2010 SEASON IS NOW FULLY CAST

Illyria is no longer accepting casting applications for 2010.

Illyria celebrates its 19th season in 2010. Would you like to work for one of the longest established, and the most widely touring and highly acclaimed of the open-air theatre companies.

The shows are very physical and demand very strong vocal skills. The productions are ensemble - no individual is the star.

Each tour has a company of 5 (or 4 or 6) actors WORKING AS A TEAM. Everyone mucks in with EVERYTHING, including get-ins & get-outs, stage-management, driving, costume/prop-maintenance, radio/TV interviews etc. There is one day off per week (usually Monday). Vans generally return to London once a fortnight, but sometimes less frequently. Travel on tour is provided. Travel within London is not provided. B&B accommodation (sometimes self-catering) on tour is provided and paid for by Illyria. Please note: single rooms are not normally provided, but you will never be more than 2 to a room.

Performances continue REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER. Please think hard about this. Depending on your point of view, acting in the pouring rain is either horrendous or hysterical. What is your point of view? HONESTLY?

This work is tough, but it is enormous fun: during the last 18 years 75% of Illyria’s actors have returned for more! (Over 50% return for 3 seasons, 20% for 5 seasons or more!)

When we are casting the 2011 season we would like to hear from versatile actors (m/f) who are up for the challenge. A demonstrable love for small-scale touring, the company’s ensemble style and Shakespeare/Children's Theatre (whichever is appropriate) is crucial.

Casting for 2011 season will be announced on this page from early March 2011, and on the usual casting sites.
